How to transfer money without internet?

HOW TO TRANSFER MONEY, HOW TO TRANSFER MONEY FROM PHONE, HOW TO TRANSFER MONEY WITHOUT INTERNET

Yes it's true, now you can transfer money without internet. As we know India is gradually moving towards cashless economy so it is important to have the easy availability of money transferring facility nationwide. But this facility is only available if the respected person have internet connection, this can be a problem sometimes.

Imagine yourself in a situation where you've got a high priority banking transaction to make but that place has no internet connectivity. Lack of internet connectivity can be really frustrating in such situations. To overcome these type of problems NUUP (National Unified USSD Platform) has developed a platform with Unified Payments Interface (UPI) that will allow you to perform transactions by dialing a particular USSD code even without stable internet connection.

This service aims to make mobile banking easier for everyone especially for rural users, where there is lack of smartphones. The biggest advantage of this facility is that it will work on a basic phone with black and white display, a feature phone and on smartphones and that too without internet connection. This facility is available in 11 regional languages and can be accessed in the desired language using the following short codes.

English (*99#)
Hindi (*99*22#)
Tamil (*99*23#)
Telugu (*99*24#)
Malayalam (*99*25#)
Kannada (*99*26#)
Gujarati (*99*27#)
Marathi (*99*28#)
Bengali (*99*29#)
Punjabi (*99*30#)
Assamese (*99*31#)
Oriya (*99*32#)

HERE'S HOW TO TRANSFER MONEY WITHOUT INTERNET

First of all to avail this facility you need to register your mobile number with your bank. After you have registered your mobile number, open the dialer app on your phone, type *99# and dial. After that you will see the welcome screen after which you will have to enter first three letters, or IFSC code or 2 digit bank code followed by send. So for example if you have your mobile banking registered with ICICI Bank, type ICI and tap send. After a few seconds various service options will appear on your screen. These options include transferring funds using your mobile number, UPI ID, IFSC and bank account number and so on. Use the desired service by dialing the number mentioned adjacent to the service. The service enables you to send money even to a person who is not using the NUUP service.

According to NPCI (National Payments Corporations of India), the service can be availed 24*7 and works even on holidays. You cannot make big transfers using this service. A Reserve Bank of India guideline prescribes a limit of 5000 per transactions for financial transactions facilitated by the bank without end to end encryption, the limit is quite good in my opinion. This service has been launched to take the banking services to every common man across the country.

There are no extra charges from the bank's end for performing the transactions through this USSD code but your telecom operator might charge you for using this service. For example, Airtel charges Rs0.50 for every transaction. According to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) guidelines, telecom service providers can charge a maximum of Rs1.50 per transaction for using this service. There is no risk of this service being misused even if you lose your phone as user will have to enter the UPI PIN to carry out the transaction. However, it is recommended that you should immediately inform the bank and deactivate mobile banking services to avoid any misuse.

Also once you have initiated the transfer of funds, it cannot be cancelled, stopped or reversed as the service uses Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), which is an instant inter bank fund transfer service. If there are any complaints or issues while using this service, you can get in touch with your bank or telecom service provider, depending on the kind of issue you are facing.

*99# service is currently offered by 43 leading banks and all GSM service providers and can be accessed in various languages. So next time if you get trapped in an area with poor internet connectivity, try using *99# to get your banking transactions done.
